Preschool 

The objective of the preschool is to prepare for first grade.  Basic language and math skills are taught in English and Arabic.  Language Skills—the alphabet and simple words.  Math—numbers 1 through 20.  Singing. Creative Skills—educational games, coloring, scissors and paperwork,  Computer Training.  Recreation.


  Grade 1 

Math—place value through 200, addition and subtraction—sums through 18, money and time, geometry and measurement, fractions and graphs.  Life Science—plants, animals, where plants and animals live.  Physical Science—grouping objects, moving and working, sound, light and heat.  Earth Science—the Earth, weather, seasons, the sky.  The Human Body—the senses, growing and changing, taking care of your health.  Social Studies—family life, your school and neighborhood, geography.  English—an introduction to grammar, intensive and extensive reading, handwriting and spelling, listening and speaking, dictionary use.  Introductory level French.  Art—music, coloring, scissors and paperwork.  Computer Science.  Classical Arabic and Islamic Studies.  Physical Education—football, volleyball, basketball, etc.     


  Grade 2 

Math—three digit place value, time and money, addition and subtraction, geometry and fractions, measurements, multiplication through 5 x 5.  Life Science—plants, animals and fossils.  Physical Science—matter, sound, heat, light, forces, magnets and electricity.  Earth Science—the Earth, the solar system, weather and seasons.  The Human Body—nutrition, keeping healthy, how your body works.  Social Studies—people and places, animals and their habitats, how people work, how people have fun, where we buy food, long ago and today, where we find water.  English—intensive and extensive reading, handwriting and spelling, listening and speaking, grammar, dictionary use.    Introductory level French.  Art—music, coloring, scissors and paperwork.  Computer Science.  Classical Arabic and Islamic Studies.  Physical Education—football, volleyball, basketball, etc.


  Grade 3 

Math—addition and subtraction, place value, customary measurement of time, metric measurement, multiplication through 9 x 9, geometry and graphing, division facts through 9, fractions, decimals.  Life Science—how plants and animals live and grow, living things and the environment, our changing environment.  Physical Science—matter and how it changes, energy, sound, forces and machines.  Earth Science—changes in the Earth’s surface, materials and the Earth, clouds and storms, the solar system.  The Human Body—how the body works, staying healthy.  Social Studies—life on a farm, life in a city, weather and people, geography, long ago and today, deserts and forests, history of homes.  English—intensive and extensive reading, handwriting and spelling, listening and speaking, grammar, dictionary use.  Music.  Computer Science.    Introductory level French.  Classical Arabic.  Social Studies in Arabic.  Islamic Studies.  Physical Education—football, volleyball, basketball, etc.


  Grade 4 

Math—addition and subtraction of whole numbers, numeration, multiplication of whole numbers, dividing by one digit numbers, measurement, geometry, fractions, adding and subtracting fractions, decimals, graphing and probability.  Life Science—the structure of plants and animals.  Physical Science—measuring matter, force and motion, electricity and magnetism, light and sound.  Earth Science—measuring weather, what makes up the Earth, oceans, movement in the solar system.  The Human Body—the digestive system, keeping your body healthy.  Social Studies—the life of herders, the American Indians, forests, history and geography of America, grasslands, society and communication, California plus farming, fishing and mining.  English—intensive and extensive reading, handwriting and spelling, listening and speaking, grammar, dictionary use.  Music.  Computer Science.    Introductory level French.  Classical Arabic.  Social Studies in Arabic.  Islamic Studies.  Physical Education—football, volleyball, basketball, etc.
